Claus Preisinger

"I take whatever the grapes bring, and then I try to put that right into the bottle - pure, low-tech, instinctive, completely natural."

 Claus Preisinger
Farmer and Winemaker
Gols, Austria

Despite Claus Preisinger’s young and fashionable persona, he is more at home in the field than in the city.  He is passionate about his vineyards, which is obvious as he is among the best wine-makers in the Burgenland region.

Claus works his vineyards by hand and the bulkiest piece of industrial equipment he owns is a massive kettle he uses to brew chamomile and Earl Grey teas for his vines. The vineyards are completely biodynamic- much of Claus’ compost is supplied by his father’s horse farm.

Preisinger marries modern style and innovation with timeless, natural, proven methods of farming. Taught in the vineyards by his father, Preisinger has a natural instinct for crafting simply delicious wines.
