Vinaroon - (vin·a·roon) (vi-nə-ˈrün)

-noun
1     the anglicized version of vigneron, a French word inseparably meaning farmer and winemaker
2     a term used in the time of Shakespeare, but fell out of favor as agri“culture” gave way to industrialized culture
3     a member of the movement dedicated to sustaining authentically farmed wines

"Some words that were borrowed early from the French have not survived into modern English, evidently because the things they named no longer existed in England: vigneron (winegrower) and vynour (vine dresser) are instances."

- Thomas Pinney
A History of Wine in America

It may be much harder to find these days, but some winemakers still grow their own grapes, and make the wines themselves.  We refer to these farmers as, "Vinaroons," and our goal is to make sure that everyone can have a chance to fall in love with their carefully crafted wines.
