Our Values

Every bottle of Farmstead Wine bears the seal as a guarantee of authenticity — a commitment that the Farmstead Wines selection is handcrafted by farmers, through natural methods. Each bottle of wine in our collection must adhere to the Farmstead Five – five filters we use to ensure we procure only the world’s most exceptional wine for our customers:

We use a set of strict selection criteria that are very difficult to meet individually, let alone together. It makes our search for great wine difficult, yet immensely pleasurable.

1. Rare. Farmstead Wines are among the rarest wines on Earth. No wine in the Farmstead collection was produced from more than 1,000 cases. Most of the wine is from productions of less than 500 cases.

2. Vigneron Crafted. As the person toiling in the field and most familiar with the true expression of the grapes, the farmer cultivating the grapes in the vineyard made your wine.

3. Sustainably Farmed. Our farmers utilize practices associated with sustainable agriculture and biodiversity. No synthetic fertilizers, synthetic herbicides, fungicides or pesticides. Importantly and uniquely, our farmers do not use artificial irrigation techniques. Not only does this conserve water, but it results in healthier vines that grow deeper and produce a richer expression of terroir.

4. Naturally Produced. Our vignerons favor native yeasts and do not impart additives or adjustments in the cellar. Common additives in commercial wines include chaptalization (sugar), tannin powder, oak chips, color extracting enzymes, tartaric acid, reverse osmosis, micro oxygenation, fining agents and added sulfites.

5. Delicious. If the methods used above did not produce a better wine, we would not sell it. Every bottle in the Farmstead Wines collection must be delicious and deliver value for its price.
